How to Reach:
Air: The closest airport is Bagdogra airport at Siliguri (124 km From Gangtok), which is well connected to Delhi (1124.62. km from siliguri) and Kolkata (462 KM from siliguri); from here one can hire a taxi to reach Gangtok. One can even take up a helicopter from Bagdogra to reach Gangtok.
Rail: The nearest railway station to Gangtok is New Jalpaiguri (117 km from Gangtok), at Siliguri; from here one can take up the state bus, shared jeep or a taxi to reach the place.
Road: Once you make it to Siliguri then from there you can take up:
Cabs: They may cost around Rs. 155 to Gangtok from NJP station. The journey might be of about 2-3hrs.
State Bus: The journey might of about 5-6 hours.
Located above the town, this is the city's oldest monastery and is the seat of the Nyingma order. In the month of January, the Chaam or masked dance is performed here./b>

It is the annual Cymbidium Orchid Show which commences invariably from mid March to mid April. It takes place in the Ridge Park, Near the White-Hall.
Namgyal Institute of Tibetology
Located in Deorali, about 10 mins away from main Gangtok city, it has over two hundred Buddhist icons, and is a centre of study of Buddhist philosophy.
Ropeways Cable Car
It gives us beautiful views of the enite Gangtok city.Its lowest point is Deorali Market.
The Thakurbari Temple
Located in the heart of the city, it is one of the oldest and best known Hindu temple in the city.
The Himalayan Zoological Park
This is located in Bulbuley, East Sikkim District. The zoo has the Himalayan Black Bear, the barking deer, the snow leopard, the leopard cat, Tibetan wolf, Masked Palm Civet, red pandas.
It has a gorgeous waterfall, beautiful gardens, stairwells and many beautiful sculptures.
It was the second capital of the past Kingdom of Sikkim.
